Providing assistance to our local youth organizations includes raising funds that are desperately needed for operating costs for these establishments. Helping them raise funds for their youth services is something the Traverse City Optimist Club membership takes pride in.

Every year on “kids day” the first Thursday of the National Cherry Festival in downtown Traverse City. the Traverse City Optimist Club holds its annual Boardman River Duck Race. The starting point for this race is located by the U.S. Post Office in downtown on the Union Street Bridge overlooking the Boardman River. click link above for more info.

Be a part of making a difference for those in need at Christmas time!
Participating in a child’s shopping experience is a great way to teach the gift of giving. The kids team up with Optimist volunteers shop for family members, wrap presents and then visit with Santa. It’s a fun day for everyone!
You are also encouraged to sponsor one or more children to make a difference in the lives of those in need at a very special time of year.
